Parihoa is a unique place of stunning beauty, situated high on cliffs overlooking the Tasman Sea on the North Island of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Covering 711 acres and including 5 km of ocean frontage, it is only 45 minutes from downtown Auckland but possesses a special energy all of its own.
The Māori have a saying: ‘Ko au te whenua, te whenua ko au’: ‘I am the land, and the land is me’. In the Māori language, the term ‘whenua’ not only means ‘land’ but also refers to ‘a place where we are nourished’.
There are an ever-decreasing number of places in the world today where the interconnection between human beings and the natural world can be powerfully felt. Parihoa is one: a place of ever-changing vistas, seas and skies, wild weather, winds, fog, heavenly sunsets, long hot summer days, and the grounding earthiness of the land.
No visitor to Parihoa leaves without being affected by its energy.
More from our Founder...
I have a profound love for Parihoa. It captivated me from the moment I first laid eyes on it while I was still living in Singapore. Little did I know that a visit to New Zealand to see it in person would lead to the life-changing decision to buy it.
Although it is relatively close to Auckland city and the airport, when you arrive here, it feels like the edge of the world. This sanctuary has become my haven for reflection, regeneration, and resetting. It is a unique blend of elements that create an energy unlike any other: the vast ocean, breathtaking sunsets, expansive land, stunning architecture, and an overwhelming sense of peace.
At the heart of the property is the house, a striking centrepiece with an otherworldly quality that makes a bold statement about the farm's character. In addition to the house, the property boasts a variety of other buildings: a charming cottage, modern pods, a traditional woolshed, and a gallery that can host up to 250 people. There is also the central Parihoa kitchen, a well-being space, a gym, a glasshouse, a farmhouse, a homestead, and at times, mobile structures like vans and tents, all of which add to the atmosphere and versatility of this incredible place.
For me, Parihoa has been a sanctuary where I can escape the chaos of the world and unleash my creativity, particularly in relation to my virtual companies. From operating a business largely in the digital sphere, I have found immense joy in reconnecting with the physical world and engaging with real people. It is a place of beauty, process, and flow. But most of all, for me, it has been a space where I have focused deeply on my own well-being.
The idea for Parihoa, the well-being company, was inspired by the land itself. Ultimately, the vision is for the company to transcend the place, but it is a concept that could not have originated anywhere else.
As we move forward and welcome a limited number of guests to experience Parihoa, I wanted to provide a glimpse of what is on offer. Whether you are seeking a retreat for personal reflection, a venue for a significant event, or simply a place to connect with nature and others, Parihoa is a sanctuary that will leave a lasting impression.
